Al-hamdu lillahil-ladhi ahyana ba'da ma amatana wa ilayhin-nushur.

All praise is for Allah, who gave us life after He caused us to die, and to Him is the resurrection.

Said on waking from sleep. Hudhayfah reported that the Prophet said it every time he rose.

Sahih al-Bukhari 6312

Allahumma bismika amutu wa ahya.

O Allah, in Your name I die and I live.

Said when lying down to sleep, with the hand placed under the cheek. Sleep is described in the hadith as a lesser death.

Sahih al-Bukhari 6314

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubthi wal-khaba'ith.

O Allah, I seek refuge with You from male and female devils.

Said before entering the lavatory, or before uncovering oneself where there is no door.

Sahih al-Bukhari 142

Ghufranak.

I ask You for Your forgiveness.

Said on stepping out of the lavatory. Aisha reported it as the Prophet's single word on leaving.

Sunan Abi Dawud 30

In the name of Allah; I place my trust in Allah; there is no might and no power except with Allah.

Said when leaving the house. The hadith adds that the one who says it is told: you are guided, sufficed and protected.

Sunan Abi Dawud 5095

Allahummaftah li abwaba rahmatik.

O Allah, open for me the gates of Your mercy.

Said on entering a mosque, after sending blessings on the Prophet. The right foot is put in first.

Sahih Muslim 713

Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik.

O Allah, I ask You from Your bounty.

Said on leaving a mosque, in the same narration as the dua for entering. The left foot is put out first.

Sahih Muslim 713

Al-hamdu lillah — Yarhamukallah — Yahdikumullahu wa yuslihu balakum.

"All praise is for Allah." — "May Allah have mercy on you." — "May Allah guide you and set your affairs right."

A three-part exchange: the one who sneezes praises Allah, the one who hears responds, and the sneezer replies to that response.

Sahih al-Bukhari 6224
