الأهل والولد

للوالدين والزوج والولد.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ جَنِّبْنَا الشَّيْطَانَ وَجَنِّبِ الشَّيْطَانَ مَا رَزَقْتَنَا

Bismillah, Allahumma jannibnash-shaytana wa jannibish-shaytana ma razaqtana.

“In the name of Allah. O Allah, keep Satan away from us, and keep Satan away from what You provide us.”

Said by a husband before intimacy with his wife. The hadith states that a child decreed from that union will not be harmed by Satan.

بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ، وَبَارَكَ عَلَيْكَ، وَجَمَعَ بَيْنَكُمَا فِي خَيْرٍ

Barakallahu lak, wa baraka 'alayk, wa jama'a baynakuma fi khayr.

“May Allah bless you, and send blessings upon you, and join you both together in good.”

Said to someone who has just married. Abu Hurayrah reported that this is how the Prophet congratulated a man on his marriage.

رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا

Rabbana hab lana min azwajina wa dhurriyyatina qurrata a'yunin waj'alna lil-muttaqina imama.

“Our Lord, grant us joy in our spouses and our offspring, and make us a model for the God-conscious.”

One of the supplications the Qur'an attributes to the servants of the Most Merciful. Asked for spouses and children.

رَبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا

Rabbirhamhuma kama rabbayani saghira.

“My Lord, have mercy on them both as they raised me when I was small.”

The wording the Qur'an commands children to use for their parents, in the passage on lowering the wing of humility to them.

رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ ذُرِّيَّةً طَيِّبَةً، إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ الدُّعَاءِ

Rabbi hab li min ladunka dhurriyyatan tayyibah, innaka Sami'ud-du'a'.

“My Lord, grant me from Yourself good offspring. You are the Hearer of supplication.”
