What are Ayyam al-Bid?
Ayyam al-Bid, the White Days, are the 13th, 14th and 15th of each Hijri month — the three days around the full moon, when the nights stay bright. Fasting them is a voluntary practice reported from the Prophet, kept monthly by many Muslims as their regular non-Ramadan fast. They are not obligatory, and missing them carries no penalty.
