Data Sources & Attribution

Every city on this site — its name, coordinates, country, administrative region and timezone — comes from the GeoNames geographical database. Prayer times and Qibla bearings are computed from those coordinates, so GeoNames is the foundation the entire site rests on.

GeoNames is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0, which requires this credit. We have not modified the underlying dataset beyond generating URL slugs and filtering by population.

Prayer times are calculated with adhan, an open-source implementation of the standard astronomical formulas for Islamic prayer timing, maintained by Batoul Apps. It handles solar position, the twilight angles defined by each calculation authority, the Asr shadow ratios, and the high-latitude rules.

Quran text, translations and recitation audio are served by the Islamic Network project, via alquran.cloud and their audio CDN. This is a volunteer-run, non-commercial service; if you find it useful here, consider supporting them directly.

The site runs on Next.js and React, deployed to Cloudflare Workers through the OpenNext adapter, with a Neon PostgreSQL database. Icons are from Lucide (ISC) and typefaces from Google Fonts (Open Font License).
