How we calculate your prayer times
Prayer times are computed astronomically from your latitude, longitude, and date — not looked up from a fixed table. We use the solar declination and equation of time to find true dawn, midday, the shadow ratio for Asr, sunset, and nightfall, then apply the twilight angles defined by your region’s recognised calculation authority. Above 55° latitude, where true night may not occur, we apply the Middle of the Night rule.

What are the five daily prayer times?
The five obligatory prayers are Fajr (before sunrise), Dhuhr (after the sun passes its zenith), Asr (afternoon, when an object’s shadow reaches a set ratio), Maghrib (just after sunset), and Isha (after twilight disappears). Each begins at an astronomically determined moment that shifts daily with your location and the season.
Why do prayer times differ between apps and mosques?
Different authorities define the twilight angle for Fajr and Isha differently — 18° for the Muslim World League, 15° for ISNA, 19.5° for the Egyptian authority. A few degrees changes Fajr by several minutes. Mosques may also add precautionary minutes. Neither is wrong; they follow different recognised conventions.
How accurate are these times?
